So, here’s the deal…it’s not like nothing has been happening. What I’ve noticed living through a pandemic is that when you go nowhere and you’re in a small bubble, the days pass. Some pass quicker than others. I have embraced the work from home and be a new mom. Like the days passing, some are easier than others.
Hattie and I have found a nice rhythm. I’ll wake up about 7:30 and take a shower. I usually have time to get my work going. She’ll wake up and eat. Not all at once. Hattie enjoys her courses. Eat a little, play a little. Once she’s been up for 2ish hours, she’ll take about an hour nap. I get about a 2 hour nap in the afternoon. We try to go on daily walks. Then, we’ll start to wind down the day about 6. Off to bed, then start it all over again.
Let me catch you up on some things…
Activity: Shortly after her 6 month, she was able to sit confidently on her own. Then, we worked on sitting up. Since I had no clue what I was doing, I taught her the more difficult way. She picked up on it quickly. That was just about the 7 month mark. As she was approaching the 8 month mark, she decided that she had enough of being in one place and decided that she wanted to crawl. Since then, I’ve been child proofing the house. Inevitably this was going to happen. A little while back, I started to prepare my office upstairs. This allows me to set the baby gate and Hattie will be able to go from her bedroom to my office. She has been exploring her new surroundings and playing with lots of new toys.
Sleeping and Napping: The transition to sleep up in her room has been taking place too. Up until now, she has been in my room 100% of the time. About a month ago, I started to put her in her room to take naps. She has learned that it’s a fun place to be. She’ll play a little before and after her naps now. Hattie hasn’t taken a nap in my room for about a month now. Once I can get her into a small streak of no middle of the night feedings, I’ll transition the night time up stairs too. Which leads us into eating…
Eating: She was up to about 36ish ounces a day which caused her to sleep much longer at night. The last couple of weeks, there has been a small food regression…formula wise. Including today, Hattie has now tried 21 different foods. I am focusing on having her eat the rainbow. So far, purples, blues, and greens are her favorite. Blueberries were the first food that she enthusiastically ate. Then, it was eggplant and plums. Spinach wasn’t that far behind. Tonight, she ate prunes and couldn’t get enough. In just the last 2 days, I’ve given her large chunks of watermelon to feed herself. She loves to be in control of the situation. I think transitioning to small chunks will be something we’ll both enjoy. Ok…maybe not the clean up. Ha! Looking back, maybe I should have gotten a dog.
That’s a pretty good catch up for now. In the next couple of days, I’ll post a lot of pictures to see how the little one has been growing.
I really hit the jackpot! Best decision I ever made!
Hugs, C
